  • Quentin Tarantino has picked what he considers the best film of the 2010s, saying: “It’s ‘The Social Network,’ hands down. It is number one because it’s the best, that’s all! It crushes all the competition.” (Christopher Nolan’s DUNKIRK was his second place pick). – IndieWire
  • Doug Liman and Tom Cruise have stated they intend to shoot a film in outer space, working alongside NASA and Elon Musk’s Space X. This will reunite the pair after working together on AMERICAN MADE and EDGE OF TOMORROW. – Deadline
  • Given the current pandemic, only 348 of North America’s 5400 movie theatres are currently open, 169 of which are drive-ins. Horror movie THE WRETCHED is currently top of the box office, taking $186,000 over the weekend. – Variety
  • The video game BORDERLANDS is set to receive a film adaptation to be directed by Eli Roth, with Cate Blanchett having been cast in the role of Lilith. This will be her second collaboration with Roth after THE HOUSE WITH A CLOCK IN ITS WALLS. – Hollywood Reporter
  • In other video-game adaptation news, SONIC THE HEDGEHOG will receive a sequel – the first took $306.8 million at the box office. – Variety
  • Writing has started on the fifth Indiana Jones film according to producer Frank Marshall, who also praised new director James Mangold. This will the the first film in the franchise to be directed by someone other than Steven Spielberg. – Collider

The movie news this weeks shows lots of projects are still in the works despite the pandemic, with Martin Scorsese even self-shooting a short film about being in isolation for the BBC. So it’s clear that writers should keep working on their projects.
