Introducing Suzy Stein, M.D. and Fernando Perez, 2nd Place Winners of our Spring 2026 Screenwriting Contest.
At WriteMovies, we celebrate the writers who come through our contests and develop their winning scripts to prepare them for pitching to the industry.
Today, we would like to introduce co-writers Suzy Stein, M.D. and Fernando Perez, two winners of our Spring 2026 Screenwriting Contest. As their project receives development from the WriteMovies team, we’re excited to share some information about both and their project.
Suzy is a double board-certified physician, accomplished surgeon whilst Fernando has a Masters in cybersecurity. Together they have written award-winning screenplays and graphic novels.
A fun fact – Suzy collects PEZ and Fernando refuses to take the LEGOs out of the box.
Suzy and Fernando won 2nd place in our Spring 2026 Screenwriting Contest with their script HOW NOT TO WRITE A ROMANCE NOVEL – an emotionally resonant LGBTQ romantic comedy about the world’s greatest romance novelist who has given up on love. It asks the question – will his new romance with a younger man lead to the same tragic ending or will he finally get his happily ever after?
Want to put your own screenplay forward like Suzy and Fernando? Enter the WriteMovies Fall 2026 Screenwriting Contest and win a year of script development, representation by TalentScout International Management and pitching to top producers.
