Logline: A fired Wall Street hotshot uses his nerdy ex-colleague’s movie-karaoke mash-up concept to save his failing Off-Broadway bar-theater, turning audience heckling into the main attraction, until a neighborhood mobster exploits the chaos while rifts within his own family finally force him to grow up.
MOVIEOKE is a mash-up of workplace satire, scrappy family dramedy and rowdy crowd comedy that edges into crime farce.
After being fired from Wall Street, Jay Terbuson invests in an Off-Broadway theater-bar, where a struggling production leads him to embrace an unconventional movie-karaoke concept. As the show takes off, Jay must navigate growing family tensions, chaotic audiences and questionable business partnerships. A blue-collar, New York, ‘the show must go on’ comedy with an emotional core.

“John Mazzullo is a New York and Florida-based writer. His prior career as an investment manager in the Wall Street community has provided a rich assortment of characters and experiences.
In 2019, John authored, A Cup Story – a non-fiction account weaving pop-culture and personal insights to chronicle an unexpected odyssey which culminated in ordinary New York Ranger hockey fans to partake in one of sports most cherished traditions.
His screenplay, Live Bait was a 2025 Official Selection for the Blockbuster Screenwriting Contest. And another of John’s works – Fetch – won Best Action Screenplay in the New York Screenplay competition for 2025.”
