Winter was above all a time of getting to know our new winning writers and improving their scripts ready for pitching, while reconnecting with our existing former winners and agreeing the next steps for all of their exciting projects.
Spring was above all a time for pitching the first of our recent crops of winners – take a look at which projects we’ve been pitching already this year (and previously) here and what news we’re authorized to share about their attachments and dealmaking.
The Summer gave a great opportunity to lay the groundwork for a busy Fall of pitching, while most of the industry is busy filming or on holiday:
- Our founder Dr Alex Ross has been interviewing an impressive array of industry talents for his teaching course at Yale University – find out who here! And he’s also been regularly featured in Newsweek – example here.
- Extensive work refining our databases of winners and well over 1000 active contacts for pitching to, to give us the best routes possible to identify and target the right people for each script we’re pitching.
- Overhaul of the TalentScout International Management online presence, consolidating it to this new-look page more visibly integrated with WriteMovies, which continues to provide its talent pipeline.
Extensive Writer and Pitch Development. As well as putting in up to a year or more of free script development and pitch development with our winning writers, we’ve had Ghostwriting commissions and other consultancy work ongoing. For example a few weeks ago we delivered a half-day script development workshop for a highly experienced television drama cameraman with a pitch that has already been well received by commissioners he’s worked with over many years. He had rightly recognized that to win their commission he needed expert input to take his script to the next level – and we were delighted to oblige. As his mini-series was very high-concept to unlock the potential of its highly resonant theme, in the end we spent half a day with him refining just his first ten pages to give the strongest basis for the whole series to play out – and he was delighted with the results!- Confirming new contracts with many of our award winning writers to give a firm footing for the pitching and dealmaking we’re doing for them.
