WriteMovies Spring 2025 Screenwriting Contest is now closed.

It’s been an exciting few months reviewing the submissions for the WriteMovies Spring 2025 Writing Contest. Now the journey has reached its conclusion and it’s time to announce the top 3 winning scripts!

Throughout this contest season we’ve received entires from a wide range of genres, from light-hearted Comedies to cosmic Sci-Fi, all in a wide variety of formats, from features to pilots! It’s been difficult but we’ve narrowed it down to our three prize winners!

With the high volume of submissions, competition has been tough, so if you didn’t make it, don’t be disheartened; here are some valuable lessons we learned from your scripts for your future projects:

A strong protagonist engages an audience. Even when they are flawed or have negative traits, the audience needs to care about them and their goals. Challenge them, we’ll appreciate them all the more for overcoming their struggles.

Start off strong. The beginning needs to hook an audience! Grab our attention with a strong and unique opening image, and set expectations for the premise and genre going forward.

Ensure your formatting is correct. The industry will often disregard scripts that look unprofessional, check – have I got a title page with contact details? Is it written in the Courier font? Consider the length as well; is your page count appropriate for the genre?
