WHY WRITEMOVIES:
A service built to move projects forward – from idea to screenplay, and beyond.
WriteMovies’ Screenplay Ghostwriting service is designed to take your idea through development into a professional screenplay, working with an award-winning writer suited to your project.
For each project, we approach our approved screenwriters with the genre, format, and a short description of your idea. We then present you with a selection of interested writers – including their credentials, specialist genres, and fees – allowing you to choose the best fit for your project.
From there, we guide the project through development to a completed screenplay, with a clear focus on preparing it for the next stage.
Since we were established in Hollywood in 1999, WriteMovies has spent over 25 years helping writers develop their work, position their projects, and take them forward into the international entertainment industry.

Our founder, Dr Alex Ross, was a former Hollywood agent of several major writers. His experience underpins how we approach every project – with a clear understanding of what makes scripts succeed in the market.
Our Director of Worldwide Development, Ian Kennedy, coordinates all our ghostwriting projects and mentors both clients and our writers.
We’re uniquely qualified to ensure your project fulfils its potential – and to help guide it towards the industry beyond the page.
“Any writer looking to move their script to a higher level can’t go wrong by turning to WriteMovies for feedback.”

HOW IT WORKS:
How the Ghostwriting Process Works
1. Tell us about your project
Use the form on this page to tell us about yourself and the project you’d like to get ghostwritten for film, television or VOD.
At this stage, we’ll gather enough information to understand the format, genre and current state of the project – whether that’s an initial idea, a logline and synopsis, a treatment, or an early draft. We’ll also establish your ideal delivery timescale and make sure you’re available to interact with the writer at key points during the process.
Your project and privacy are protected by WriteMovies’ standard Privacy Policy and Terms & Conditions.
2. Select your writer
We’ll reach out to our approved award-winning screenwriters with the genre and format of the project. Once a writer expresses an interest, we’ll provide them with a short description of the project (including a potential ‘logline’), and they’ll respond with their rates and availability timescales.
We’ll then provide you with a summary of the interested writers, including their credentials, specialist genres and styles, fees, and availability, so you can choose the writer who feels like the best match for both the project and your preferred style of interacting.
Once you’ve made your choice, we’ll confirm the deal and take the initial payment. Full packages typically begin at under $5000, depending on which writers are available at the time.
3. Develop the screenplay
Working with your chosen writer, the project moves through a structured development and writing process, with ongoing support and oversight from the WriteMovies team. This may begin with an outline or treatment, or build from material you already have in place, such as a draft or project bible.
We agree on a clear delivery schedule with you and the writer, setting out predefined review points across the process. At these points, we review progress together and agree the next steps.
Payments are made at the start of each stage. This structure allows you to track progress against expectations, keep the project on course, or agree on alternative routes forward where needed.
4. Prepare for the next stage
Once complete, the screenplay is positioned for what comes next – whether that’s use as a production-ready script, or consideration for representation and industry pitching.
Where appropriate, projects may be taken forward through WriteMovies’ established pathways into the international market, including opportunities for pitching, representation and further development.

Indicative price: $500+
2. First Draft
The first full draft of the screenplay, building on the agreed outline and direction.

6. Delivery of the Final Screenplay
Delivery of the completed, polished screenplay.
Indicative price: $2000+
7. Positioning for industry and contest submission (optional)
If desired, the completed screenplay can be entered into the current WriteMovies Screenwriting Contest for free, allowing it to be assessed alongside other projects seeking representation and industry attention.
This provides a clear indication of how the script performs in the current market, and can lead to opportunities for pitching, representation, and further development through WriteMovies’ industry pathways.
(Results can be kept confidential if preferred.)
Entry is subject to the contest’s publicly stated terms and conditions and timescales.
Indicative prices are PURELY a guideline to the minimum charges to expect. ALL prices are subject to minimum requirements and agreement in advance of any activity being undertaken, between all three parties (you, the screenwriter, and WriteMovies). Though agreements with writers and yourself for the Ghostwriting service must by nature be personal and voluntarily entered into by all parties, potential screenwriters may choose to offer work according to Writers’ Guild rates and terms – you can find out more about those HERE for the USA, and HERE for the UK if your chosen writer is from the UK.

REPRESENTATION & INDUSTRY PITCHING:
Taking your screenplay beyond the page
WriteMovies’ involvement doesn’t end with the completion of your screenplay.
As part of the Ghostwriting service, your completed script can be entered into the current WriteMovies Screenwriting Contest at no additional cost. This is how projects enter our pipeline for development, representation, and industry pitching.
Through the contest, your screenplay is assessed in the context of the current international market, with a final result that reflects how successfully it competes. (This result can be kept confidential if you prefer!)
If the script wins a top-3 place on its own merit, we guarantee to represent it and pitch it to the international market ourselves, with the intention to also produce it, protecting your vision for the script and seeing it through to the screen.
This process is designed to move projects beyond the page – from completed screenplay through to development, representation, and industry pitching – with a clear focus on getting projects seen by the right people.
IP & RIGHTS:
You retain full ownership of your project
You retain full ownership of the Intellectual Property as the commissioner of the work – but the screenwriter must remain visibly credited on your script.
If the script sells or is produced, the screenwriter(s) also take their credit and any appropriate fee according to statutory rates and terms. After completing the script development process with us, it’s your choice who to approach or take the script to, and who to work with as you look to make it a production reality. We remain available to support you beyond completion, and are always open to further discussions as your project progresses.

From idea to industry
Through WriteMovies’ Screenplay Ghostwriting service, projects have already been developed from initial idea through to industry-level opportunities.
One recent project, TERRA, began as a client concept and was developed into a completed screenplay through our Ghostwriting process. From there, it was taken forward through the WriteMovies pipeline towards pitching and industry consideration.
We’ll be sharing more on this project at a live event on April 11th. Click here to learn more.
