In the 1980s and 1990s, Lawrence contributed episodes to several UK TV series, won the PAWS Award for Drama, sold a twelve part sci-fi TV series to Limehouse Studios and a six part Comedy Drama Series to the BBC. He moved to Hong Kong where he wrote newspaper and magazine articles, published short stories, and wrote scripts for Indian and Chinese movies. He won the 2006 Hong Kong Film Finance Award for best Hong Kong Film Project, and wrote Lifeline, a thirteen part TV drama series produced by Mediacorp in Singapore (2007). He was chairman and a founder of The London Screenwriters’ Workshop, which for ten years was Europe’s largest Screenwriter organisation. He founded and is Chairman of the Hong Kong Writers Circle and is Creative Director and a partner in Idol Films Ltd., a Hong Kong film production company with offices in Hong Kong and Mumbai. He has taught screenwriting at The University of London, and sundry other colleges around London. He has also taught screenwriting in Singapore and Hong Kong.
